Charleston Hope presents The Power to Flourish Luncheon, a gathering of women dedicated to supporting mental wellness and empowerment. This inspiring event will feature a keynote speaker, an engaging panel discussion, and a special highlight of Charleston Hope’s Step-In girls' enrichment program. Attendees will enjoy a healthy lunch while fostering meaningful conversations about the impact of women and girls mental health.

Program Highlights:

  • Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Jeannelle Perkins-Muhammad: A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor with two decades of experience, Dr. Perkins-Muhammad specializes in addressing the impact of systemic racism on the mental and emotional health of Black couples. She earned her Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision and was a featured speaker at TEDxCharleston 2024, where she shared her insights on mental health and social justice.

  • Panelist:

    • Diane Arnold, MA, LPC, LPCS: With over 35 years of marriage and three adult children, Diane is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor specializing in family and marriage therapy. She is certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), focusing on trauma and betrayal recovery. Diane co-founded The Family Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring personal connections and communications within families.

    • Dr. Anne Gutshall: A Professor at the College of Charleston, Dr. Gutshall is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate and a school psychologist. With over 17 years of teaching experience, she also serves as the Mental Health Faculty Fellow at the college's Counseling Center, contributing significantly to the mental health and well-being of the academic community.

    • Morgan Curry Brown: As a Senior Facilities and Energy Engineer at Bosch in Charleston, Morgan leads initiatives focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. Her expertise in engineering and commitment to environmental stewardship have been pivotal in advancing Bosch's sustainability goals.

This event will also integrate the principles of Dr. Martin Seligman’s FLOURISH framework, which emphasizes Positive Psychology through Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment (PERMA). Through this lens, we will explore how mental health initiatives in schools empower students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
